SURVIVOR 48 REVISITED

Survivor 48 ended on an exciting note. The final four contestants were Kyle, Camilla, Joe, and Eva. Kyle won the final challenge and kept his promise to Joe by choosing him to be automatically to be part of the final three contestants making their pitches to the jury for the one million dollar prize.

Kyle’s decision forced Eva and Camilla to make fire to secure the third spot. In prepping for the match, Eva became frustrated as she felt overwhelmed due to her autism. Joe assisted her and Eva regained the confidence she had displayed for most of the season. During the actual contest both Eva and Camilla started slowly, but yet again Eva became frustrated. Joe needed to quietly talk her out of panic one more time and Eva then won going away with her fire. I thought this would put Joe in the driver’s seat to win the whole thing.

I was wrong. While Joe and Eva had become a public dynamic duo even to the other contestants, what the others did not know is that Kyle and Camilla had forged a secret clandestine duo and a strategy to match. Unless circumstances intervened, Joe and Camilla decided not to appear together in the final three diluting the jury vote. Fortunately for Kyle, Camilla lost the fire contest and only he of his duo appeared before the jury while Camilla actually became the last jury member to be seated. His solo appearance of his duo coupled with his compelling life story tipped the jury vote in his favor and he became a million dollars richer (before the tax man cometh!).  The final tally was Kyle with 5 votes, Eva with 2 votes, and Joe with 1 vote.

Joe and Eva have become lifelong friends, and Eva even created a side business of this adventure. The “Fiji Hockey Club” merch combining her love of the sport with the location of Survivor 48 is now on sale with proceeds from each purchase going to help children with disabilities- I bought a t-shirt and it is now in my wardrobe.
